Description
Stand Up For Marine Turtles is the next light sculpture .
From Taronga website:
"Taronga is committed to the conservation of marine turtles through our rescue, rehabilitate and release program. On 28th August 2014 a Green Turtle hatchling was found upside down on the sand at Copacabana Beach. He had an injured flipper and had swallowed plastic and weighed just 56g when admitted to our Wildlife Hospital. Named Andrew our team nursed him back to health, feeding him a specially formulated turtle gel. With every month he grew bigger and stronger and progressed well in his heated rehabilitation pool. His diet also progressed to fish and squid. In January 2016 he will be fitted with a satellite tracker and released back into the wild. "
But I believe we all can make a huge difference by getting rid of all plastic properly (not on the street which can blow into water) and stop using pesticide and other poisons which wash off into rivers and oceans.

What a beautiful turtle sculpture and great story of turtle rescue and rehabilitation. I agree 100% that we ALL should limit our use of plastic and be vigilant in it's disposal. Unfortunately, our oceans are full of plastic refuse and we need to stop treating them like a big garbage can. Also, pesticides, fertilizers and other poisons that constantly run off into the oceans. So sad! l/fv
