Description
Martin Place has been described as the "civic heart" of Sydney.
Martin Place has become a national Australian icon in popular culture for attracting high-end film and television productions and actors to the area.
Every day, Martin Place attracts workers and visitors as they criss-cross the city or sit down and enjoy lunch in the sun. The bustling thoroughfare, which began as a plaza between Pitt and George Streets in the early 1970s, has been pedestrian-only all the way to Macquarie Street since 1980.
It is flanked by some architectural landmarks, including the MLC Centre and the mushroom-shaped Commercial Travellers' Association building (on the right)
In middle you can see the stair which lead to the train station and on the left is a medicare sign and I believe its also the ATO building, the taxation office nobody likes :).
The ampitheatre
Located between Pitt St. and Castlereagh Street (in the picture behind the railway stairs), the Martin Place amphitheatre is perfect for corporate and community events. The ampitheatre features a stage that can be raised if required. The site has recently hosted film festivals, concerts, charity fundraisers and even marathons. And also protests.

Beautiful setting! I can only imagine a more bustling atmosphere during the daytime hours, and people enjoying this area to get out of a stuffy office to eat their lunch! Probably a very popular place in the day! Love this nighttime shot, Miroslava! Great composition! L/F
