Description
Docile and slow-moving, zebra sharks are not dangerous to humans and can be easily approached underwater. However, they have bitten divers who pull their tails.
This guy is from SeaWorld Sydney aquarium.
The Zebra Shark, also known as the Leopard Shark or Stegostoma Fasciatum, is a very interesting shark.
This shark actually changes in appearance over its lifetime. Juveniles have stripes on their skin (hence the name “zebra”). But as they become adults, their skin becomes more spotted (hence the name “leopard”).
These are bottom dwellers and considered “carpet fish.” They have a great ability to breath easily while resting on the sea floor. Normally, they point towards the natural water flow and pump water through their gills without requiring any movement.
The World Conservation Union has assessed this species as Endangered worldwide, as it is taken by commercial fisheries across most of its range (except off Australia) for meat, fins, and liver oil.
Humans been destroying everything, until there wont be nothing left, then we destroy our selfs ! Lets change it, lets stop overpopulations and destruction of our environment !
