Description
It’s reported that 30 merchant ships were lost by enemy attack in Australia waters with 654 deaths. In 1941, as the war escalated, Australian and allied merchant ships were requisitioned by the Shipping Control Board. Merchant ships were a vital part of the war effort because they carried supplies to troops up in the islands, materials for ship building, munitions and all the things that would keep the country going during the war.
These men in the picture are heros from WW2 !
