Description
The street between the 2 building is Pitt Street. The building to the left is 5 Martin Place and you can see their leasing advertisement down the bottom on the left. You can also see the flag "America painting a nation" which was promoting the art gallery of NSW which was presenting the most expansive survey of American painting ever presented in Australia. With over 80 works, ranging from 1750 to 1966, this exhibition covered more than 200 years of American art, history and experience.
At the back you can see GPO GRAND (formerly GPO SYDNEY) which stand for Grand Post Office. GPO Grand is housed within Sydney's historic General Post Office (GPO) opened in 1874; Australia's pre-eminent heritage building at Sydney's most prestigious address, No.1 Martin Place. The transformation of the GPO building into what we have today was undertaken in late 1999.
